Kent's first holiday tree house UK

After a long battle with red tape parish councils and bitter neighbors,,, this year is coming to an end  aaarrrrrr!

Is it just me or have we all at some point in our lives had the desire to live or just stay 1 night in a tree house. Well  its not just me according to an overwhelming show of interest after, sending our tree house page live back in April 2011.

What is it?? why do we want to spend time swaying amongst the branches & leaves 10 20 30 feet above the ground?
Dont know what you think but the theory of "evolution" fits nicely for me.
Up off the ground away from the natural predators at a time when we weren't in charge and had to protect ourselves from more than just the tax man.

Ok so what is the attraction for wanting to stay in a tree house.
For me its the feeling of freedom with solitude and safely perching on no more than a few branches assured the natural strength of the tree will protect its hosts, the sense of being at one with nature amongst the birds squirrels and bees, almost unreachable from the world and detached from life's busy motion. Tarzan keeping an eye on his world around him from up in the canopy. AAAAAAhhhhhh   aaarrrrrrrrrrrr.

Cant wait to get started.
Just waiting for the foundation calculations to hit my Inbox , send them to the local building regs for approval and into the dirt we go!!!
Mmmmm ,, foundations for a tree house.. this usually consists of roots, right?

Yep! but not this time,
Rules and regulations red tape and stuff.
Just as well i dont have a big beautiful oak tree in which to build my tree house, as you would never be allowed to construct a habitable building in it due to the strict building regulations this country has. Which i am mostly in agreement with.

OK foundations
Sadly they often consist of lots of concrete and steel buried in the ground, this will be the case for us "Unfortunately" other methods have been explored and red-taped from the project which in my opinion is just lack of understanding [or wanting to] in already proven alternative methods around the world.

Screw piles,  A steel tube with a helical plate welded at the bottom screwed deep into the ground with a heavy duty giant sized cordless drill. Used for massive warehouse foundations, those big signes hanging across the motorways, and would you believe it, In 1863, Screw piles were used to support Brighton pier. They can even be removed if required.
But guess what they wont support a piddly little 1 bedroom tree house built in Kent.

Naaa! "Lets play it safe and tip tonnes of concrete into the ground" Much easier!!!
It dosnt stop there,
The cost to the environment removing and transporting the excavated waste which is always twice the volume when dug out.
The next Zillion years the concrete will omit emissions into the atmosphere.
Then of course it will be there to stay forever when the tree house is long gone.

Hey that's enough negativity. Lets look at the upside, all those people whom have wanted to stay in a tree house will have the chance without traveling to the jungles of Java , you can have your own Kenya in Kent.

If you want to join our list to stay at the Bee-hive tree house when completed go to our website.

Tell us what you think.
